Taylor
Taylor Swift is that rarest of pop phenomenons: a superstar who managed to completely cross over from her country roots to become a renowned pop-culture icon and conquering the world by the way. Swift shed her roots in the music of country as a separate layer, revealing herself as the most sophisticated pop singer and songwriter of the generation she was born into. Swift was able harness the current zeitgeist and make it her unique. Swift's talents were obvious on her earliest hits especially the neo-tribute Tim McGraw but her second album, 2008's Fearless showcased a songwriter discovering the person she really was, while also gaining a mass audience. The album ended up with a lot of reach not just in the U.S. where it racked 6 platinum singles off the back of Top Ten hits Love Story and You Belong with Me but throughout the world performing particularly well across Australia, U.K. Canada and Australia. Swift's second album, Speak Now, released almost two years after her first one, built on this popularity. It propelled Swift to the heights of fame. In the following three years her fame rose -three times - Red (2012), Reputation (2014) and 1989 (2014-2015) during which time she entered a new realm of pop music where her skills were already well established. She continued to be at the forefront of pop music even though she cut back on her appearance in her sister albums folklore in the year 2020, and Evermore.
